The Library is adding Canasta to our group game offerings. Join our volunteer Jane to learn how to play this card game. Canasta is a for or rumme that uses two full card decks.Players or partnerships try to meld groups of two or three cards of the same rank and score bonuses for 7-card melds. The first player or partnership to hit 5000 points wins! Beginners are welcome but we have limited registration.
Cooks & Books
This book group meets the third Thursday of each month from 12:15-1:30 in the Activity Room. We discuss a chosen cookbook or theme and share prepared dishes. A delight for foodies who love to cook. Registration is required.

German Conversation Group with Suse Volk

The Stone Ridge Library is expanding our language conversation groups to include a German conversation group which will meet on the third Friday of each month.
Participants should have some background in German language as this is a conversation group meant to improve and brush up skills.
Suse Volk is a native German speaker ready to discuss a variety of topics including culture, travel and food. This first meeting will be an organizational meeting.

Knitting Group
The Stone Ridge Library Knitters meet every Saturday morning from 10am – 12noon. All ages and experience levels can join us and drop-in knitters are also welcome. We each bring our own supplies and do our own work, but one of the best things about us is that whatever obstacle or confusion you might encounter, you’re likely to receive as much comment and advice as you need to get where you’re going with a project.
Seed Saving with Jessica Williams

You’ll discover the difference between hybrid and heirloom plants and why this is so important, along with how to recognize when seeds are fully ripe.
We’ll discuss how to harvest seeds from flowers and vegetables with hands-on demonstrations. Avoid common mistakes and save money!
You’ll leave with flower seeds and two tins for proper seed storage for next spring!
Spanish Conversation with Francisco and Varcia

If you would like to brush up on your Spanish conversation skills and meet other language lovers in a friendly and stress free environment, come join our class in the Activity Room and on Zoom, every 4th Monday of the month from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. All levels are welcomed. ¡Hasta entonces!

Drawing in the Garden Series with Donna Calcavecchio
Mondays Every Monday Through October
Introductory Meeting, Monday, May 13 then every other Monday June 3 through October 7.
Join Donna Calcavecchio every other Monday afternoon in our lovely pollinator garden. Practice the fundamentals of drawing flowers, leaves, twigs, buds and bugs as you focus & hone your observational skills. Keep a journal of the changes in the garden as the season progresses through summer, and fall. Learn about botanical drawing and nature journaling as you practice drawing flowers, foliage and pollinators in our pollinator Garden. Create a sketchbook/journal, documenting your observations of the various plants and the pollinators that they attract.
This series starts in May and continues through the growing season into Fall. Registration is limited so please register if you plan to attend the full series.
Writers Group 2 with Cathy Arra

Two separate writers’ groups meet on alternate Mondays at the library in the Activity room, with a maximum of 10 participants in each group. This program is designed for those who are actively writing and publishing work and who want to participate in a structured critical feedback process.

Are you looking for a book group that reads just for the fun of it? This may be the book group for you. No serious tomes of 500+pages, just lighthearted escapism the group members will take turns choosing. Think beach reads but year round. After Work Yoga with Laura Brown
Once again, the library is happy to offer 3, hour-long, after-work yoga classes. Classes will be held at the Municipal Center, 1925 Lucas Ave. in Cottekill (old Rosendale School).
We will be in the cafeteria (formerly the Blackboard Bistro) or on the lawn above the playground, weather permitting. These classes will be taught by Laura Brown and we are thrilled to be working with her. Registration for this event will open on August 28.

Various Rail Trails
The Stone Ridge Library Saunterers are back in action walking various rail trails every Thursday each month from noon-1pm during the heat of the summer.
All are welcome as we talk and walk, getting in our steps and getting to know our neighbors. There is no registration necessary. Just show up with your walking shoes on.
All walks are weather permitting. Any cancellations will be posted on social media and on our website.
